Alexa Ranking & Final Results

When on the 10th of January, I started this series on improving your Alexa Ranking, little did I realise at the time, that 20 days later there would be such an obvious improvement in this sites ranking!

This sites ranking when I started this series of articles was 639,013, which for a 4 month old site, I felt was pretty fair.

However our current ranking is now 537,067 which means this sites ranking has improved 101,946 in just 20 days.   So lets take a look at some of the areas of improvement from Alexa’s point of view.

 

Traffic Reach

 

Traffic reach = 400% increase in 1 month.

 

Page Views

 

Page Views = 970% increase in 1 month.

 

Page Views / User

 

Page Views / User = 110% increase in 1 month.

 

Bounce Rate

 

After a terrible experience with traffic generators, a nice reduction of 48% in 1 month.

 

Time On Site

 

Time On Site = 129% increase in 1 month

 

The Verdict

 

Now I don’t know a single webmaster that would cock his nose up at such figures ! Irrespective of how you personally feel about the validity of the Alexa Traffic Rank, it does not alter the fact that in the vast majority of cases, if you wish to succeed and earn a reasonable ammount of money from selling advertising space on your site, you will at some point have to deal with your Alexa Ranking. We should also bear in mind that even if Alexa is not your prime concern, the methods listed in the previous articles are all sound strategies for optimizing your pages & therefore will ultimately be of benefit to your website or blog.
